Bountiful B surrounded by white lights on the hill.

On September 12th, during Bountiful High's Homecoming celebration themed "Light the Night," a powerful symbol of the Bountiful community did just that. The iconic "B" on the hill has been a legacy for Bountiful High School for decades and now lights the night sky with permanent LED lighting.

The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. The theme and the unveiling came together to create a moment that united students, alumni, and the entire Bountiful community in celebration, not just of Homecoming, but of the legacy that lives on through the “B.”

For generations, the “B” has stood as a proud emblem of Bountiful High School, weathering changes in mascots, buildings, and traditions. Through it all, it has remained a constant, a beacon of resilience, pride, and unity. Lighting the “B” was more than a technical achievement; it was a tribute to the enduring spirit of Bountiful.

The project of lighting the B was a true community effort, with contributions from many hands and hearts.

Bountiful would like to recognize High Country Lighting for their countless hours of planning and installing the lights. Their team spent many long hours working in the hot sun, on a steep hill, and solving problems along the way. Thanks to their innovative ideas and professional expertise, what once seemed like an impossible task became a reality.

Bountiful would also like to recognize ServPro of Bountiful, who played a vital role in planning, executing, and providing materials throughout the process. Franchise owner Josh Grimstead volunteered his time, tackled the steep hillside, and even managed to boil water on the slope for the whitewashing process. He spent the day guiding teenagers on how to properly whitewash a giant hillside letter, turning a tough task into a memorable learning experience.

We can't forget the community who helped make this possible. The Bountiful High Bantams, local youth football league, spent a long afternoon clearing the brush and weeds away from the B. The Bountiful High student's followed up the cleaning with time spent white washing the B and making it look perfect for it's big debut.

Lastly, local community members and businesses; Jay's Tire Pros, the Jenkins Family, the Hellewell family, the Stout family, and the Keller family assisted with financing the necessary materials to make this possible.

This project is more than just lights, its a symbol of what a community can accomplish together. As we look to the future, the "B" remains a powerful reminder of the shared history and community strength that Bountiful provides.

Look for the lights during all Bountiful Home Football games and to help signify other special events happening at Bountiful High.
