At Davis Adult Education, our English as a Second Language (ESL) program is more than just a place to learn English—it’s a launchpad for opportunity. Every year, students from around the world walk through our doors determined to improve their language skills, and they leave with so much more: confidence, career training, and real-world readiness.
Our ESL classes are designed to meet students where they are. Whether they are learning basic vocabulary or preparing for job interviews in English, we support each learner every step of the way. Students practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking, while also learning practical skills to help them succeed in daily life and in the workplace.
One unique feature of the program is our Teaching Assistant Pathway, which prepares ESL students to work in local schools. Through this program, students gain the skills they need to become classroom Teaching Assistants—helping teachers and supporting students across Davis School District. Many of our graduates have successfully transitioned into TA roles, where they not only earn a steady income, but also continue to improve their English in professional settings.
We’re proud of our ESL students, who bring hard work, resilience, and diversity to our community. At Davis Adult Education, we’re committed to opening doors—for language, for learning, and for a better future.
